Key Three: GRID Series

HRAFF exists to create an ecosystem of individuals and organisations who champion creativity and human rights. As part of this mission, we are proud to partner with various community organisations who are already leading the way in this regard, to offer three practical steps that our audience can take to join the movement for social change.

As part of HRAFF 2021, our community partner GRID Series prepared Three Actions audiences could take after watching ‘Underplayed’, and in doing so, be part of the ecosystem of change makers.

GRID Series is an artist development program supporting outer suburban emerging musicians around Australia and strengthening communities through music. Through song development, mentoring, recording, video content and live performance they provide a platform for outer suburban artists to attain visibility, unearthing some of the most exciting, thought provoking and dynamic artists in the country.

Action # 1: Buy music directly from Bandcamp

The current revenue model for musicians on Spotify is roughly $0.00348 per stream. Of all parties not benefiting from this arrangement, artists are losing out the most. Bandcamp also enables fans to donate to artists they love.

Action # 2: Book emerging musicians for your private or work events

If you have the means, this is a powerful way to show your support for artists. Artists often are open to performing at house concerts, or online forums.

Action # 3: Like their music? Tell them!

When you like an artist….communicate with them! It's amazing what kind words can do for the confidence of a new artist coming through.
