Closing Night Rock Concert by Jag

At the HRAFF Closing Night event, we’re excited to present an explosive set by local musician JAG and her band - hosted at Beer Deluxe.

Film Synopsis

Get ready to become fans of Fanny! Sometime in the 1960s, in sunny Sacramento, two Filipina-American sisters June and Jean Millington got together to play music. Little did they know their garage rock band would evolve into the legendary Fanny, one of the first all-female bands to release an album in the US.

David Bowie said they were as important as The Beatles. Comprising women of colour, and lesbians to boot, there are no prizes for guessing their fate. Overlooked despite their originality and musical skills, they quit in 1975 largely to become producers and session musicians. Bowie urged for the band to be ‘revivified’. And now they are finally back, reunited in their seventies with a new record deal. Featuring fantastic archive photography by Linda Wolf, Bobbi Jo Hart’s uplifting film is sure to make you a fan of the band and will finally give them the fame they deserve.

Closing Night Rock Concert by Jag

At the HRAFF Closing Night event, we’re excited to present an explosive set by local musician JAG, supported by her band members: Nikko Morgan-Lowe (guitar), Mathew Farry (bass) and Nathan Power (drums).

A wailing rocker in the ilk of Howlin’ Wolf, her guttural renditions transcend by sheer viscerality.

Howlin’ the blues with a rock n roll attitude, Jag is a raw musician from Melbourne.

She fearlessly engages with audiences, putting on performances of pure emotion. Writing songs of freedom, growth, and individuality, Jag shows that she’s more than just a performer.

Jag is a Rock n’ Soul, Hard Blues Funk artist.

Her raspy style is influenced by the likes of Tina Turner, Hendrix, and shock-rock legend Screamin’ Jay Hawkins.

She released her debut track SATISFIED in December 2021.
